This watercolour of horses and figures among the trees, Fantasy, was listed in the catalogue for Sven's first Camborne Community Centre exhibition in 1939, No. 43 and priced at £1.10s. Here is the influence of Arthur C Hambly, head of the Redruth and Camborne Art Schools and an adept painter of watercolours with whom Sven studied for three years.  Hambly, he said, taught him how to transpose form to paper and took him to his first St. Ives Show Day. There is already a sculptural quality to the forms in this work, so reminiscent of the later languid, tall and elegant images of women to which he returned later in life. A work of particular historic interest.
