Also shown at the I am Lazarus exhibition, this painting was given to its original owner as a wedding present by 'a botanist at Kew'. (In fact, Gavin de Beer, then director of the Natural History Museum, had been a friend of Juanita’s and had bought five paintings at that show.) The dramatic sunset in the New Forest, seen through the darkness of the trees, is portrayed using broad, bold and confident brush strokes.
