Dr. Ken Lee is the son of Cliff Lee, the famous Gypsy of Maghull, Liverpool who would camp with his family with Augustus John in Fordingbridge and after John's death, with Sven Berlin in the New Forest. Ken became an academic studying Romani culture, Geography, and has a doctorate in Anthropology and Sociology. He lives in Australia where until he retired was a lecturer at the University of Newcastle, NSW. Most recently Dr Lee has contributed an article to the current Augustus John exhibition The Last Bohemian - Augustus John and Liverpool’s Gypsy Lore Society which runs until 30 August, 2021.
